Pewter Revolution in Beaded Jewelry
The word pewter may conjure images of colonial Americans drinking tankards of ale while discussing the Boston Tea Party, but this soft-luster metal can be a beautiful addition to a beaded necklace or bracelet.
First created by the Romans, early pewter was comprised of a tin and lead mixture, but the health drawbacks caused by ingestion of lead eventually became well-known and the metal eventually morphed into a non-deadly concoction of tin, antimony, and copper.
