Hydrangea Frit by Glass Diversions
Over the years, I have accumulated so much frit. I am revisiting some colors I have not used regularly in some years. Applying them to different base glasses creates different reactions. Although they are all just a little different, they still look beautiful together.
The Hydrangea frit from Glass Diversions is a pretty combination. It can produce watercolor effects depending on your glass base color. The base glass and time in the flame will determine how much of a spread or reaction you get. This frit is primarily turquoise, cobalt, fuchsia, purple, and green.
In this set, I used many different base glass colors with this blue and purple frit. Mostly I selected cooler colors from my stash of glass since it seemed to look nice with this frit.
- White Rose
- Cobalt
- Opaque Lilac
- Willow
- New Violet
- Jupiter
- Light Turquoise
- Pale Purple
- Green Tea
- Periwinkle
- Opal Yellow
- Misty Blue
- Clear
I used cherry shake, cobalt, and opaque lilac in this first set. Effetre Cherry Shake is not that interesting but makes an excellent base color for frit. For some reason, colors really stand out on this glass. The blue definitely disappears. The darker blues just disappeared into the cobalt base, but it is still a nice combination. The Reichenbach Opaque lilac also had some nice reactions.
The Effetre Violet New also had a beautiful reaction. The blue almost looks like a deep violet on this base. Jupiter is a nice neutral glass and most first look great on this color. The aqua frit disappears on the light turquoise, similar to the cobalt blue, but it still looks nice.
Effetre Green Tea is actually a really nice base with this frit. The aqua blue still stands out on this glass. Periwinkle has nice reactions. You can see more color variations created with the reactions in the glass. The opal yellow had less of a reaction than I thought.
In this photo, you can see opal yellow, misty blue, and a clear base. In this photo of opal yellow, you can see a little separation of colors around some of the frit glass. The Effetre Misty Blue has been a lovely base for most of my frit blends. On clear, the frit behaved similarly on to how it l looks over opal yellow.
